London, Sep 12: The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was celebrated at the Lobo’s of Kingsbury, London on Sunday September 11 amongst a gathering of over 250 devotees, friends, relations well wishers and a large number of SKA members.
The celebrations started with an introductory message by Cheryl Lobo who thanked everyone for being part of the celebrations year after year for the last 15 years. Cheryl also announced the arrival of her son baby Barnaby.
Children accompanied by their parents, with baskets of flowers, took a procession to the statue of Mother Mary. Flower throwing was to the tune of music and hymns.
Then followed the Mass officiated by Father William Menezes, assisted by Father Manoj D’Souza and Father Mark (Parish Priest-English Martyrs RC Church))
After the Mass there was the grand cradling ceremony of Barnaby James Taylor. This is customary in Mangalore for the new baby to be ‘cradled’ by the respective grandparents. The cutting of the special baby cake completed the ceremony.
Keith and Sushma, son and daughter-in-law of Mr & Mrs Lobo, also cut an anniversary cake in remembrance of their first wedding anniversary.
Bevelin (pet name Cookie), godchild of Mr & Mrs Lobo celebrated her birthday by cutting her birthday cake.
