Udupi, Jan 5: Deputy commissioner Dr K Vidyakumari presided over a preliminary meeting on Friday, January 5, to discuss arrangements for the upcoming Shree Krishna Math Paryaya Mahotsava from January 8 to 18. She emphasized the need for smooth movement of tourists, devotees, and vehicles within the city during the event.
Dr K Vidyakumari instructed the officials to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow, provide basic facilities, and complete necessary infrastructure works in the city before the commencement of the Mahotsava. Anticipating daily participation of 50-60 thousand devotees, she stressed the importance of cleanliness and waste disposal, including the provision of toilets by the city council.
Given that the Paryaya Mahotsava events will take place at night, Dr K Vidyakumari called for well-equipped street lights, temporary toilets, and a reliable water system. Additionally, she suggested setting up counters at Math parking premises to distribute brochures containing information about tourist spots in the district and urged the opening of helplines for public assistance.
Tourism and KSR department officials were instructed to arrange package service special buses for tourists visiting various spots. The DC emphasized the need to display pictures on LED screens to create awareness about precautionary measures at tourist spots. She also called for active participation in the celebration parade by various departments, highlighting their projects and government programs.
Parking arrangements for vehicles were planned at Board High School, Church School, MGM grounds, Bidinagudde ground, Ammani Shetty ground, Town Hall, and other suitable locations. The meeting was attended by additional commissioner Mamata Devi G S, SP Dr Arun K, ASP Siddalingappa, Mahe University pro chancellor Dr H S Ballal, former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, municipal commissioner Rayappa, assistant director of Tourism Department Kumar, Nagaraj Acharya of Puttige Math, and district-level implementation officers from various departments.
