Sullia: Police investigate alleged mistreatment of elderly passenger by KSRTC conductor

Daijiworld Media Network – Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Jan 9: The Kadaba police recently visited the residence of an elderly individual who was reportedly forced to disembark from a KSRTC bus by the conductor due to a lack of exact change for his ticket fare.

Sub-inspector Akshaya Davagi, along with personnel Bhavit Rai and Vinod, gathered first-hand information from Babu Gowda, the affected individual.

The accusation is that the conductor ejected Babu Gowda midway at Goliadka for tendering an Rs 200 currency note as payment for his ticket fare. Babu Gowda had boarded the bus at Kallugudde and was en route to Kanchana. This incident sparked widespread criticism on social media.

Babu Gowda had already reported the matter to the gram panchayat. It is now anticipated that the gram panchayat will file a complaint against the conductor with KSRTC authorities. Additionally, the police department plans to submit the details of the incident to the KSRTC department.

Bold senior man... We need more like him... Such incidents of harassments by govt and bank employees meted out to poor and old are common place... i went to Bank of India branch, Udupi yesterday with a lower income person for some small work and the lady staff was quite uncooperative and rude... She was acting as if we were disturbing her at her residence... Such callous mentality is there with these employees who are enjoying flow of salaries month to month unlike private employees who have to slog it our for each rupee earned... Guy could have easily got change from any shop at the subsequent stop... Vehemence n intolerance and nothing else...
