Mangaluru, Jan 27: St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated India’s 75th Republic Day with great pride and reverence on January 26. The chief guest Lt Col Gracian Sequeira, administrative officer, Karnataka Battalion, NCC, Mangaluru (Dakshina Kannada) unfurled the national flag and addressed the students. He urged them to strive for their best, take pride in being Indian, and embrace a disciplined life. He shared his experiences as an army officer and said that a thoughtful mind, when it gazes upon a nation's flag, does not merely see the flag but envisions the nation itself.
Father Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ, in his speech, emphasized the significance of the Constitution and its distinctive features and advised to be active and responsible citizens.
The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of Republic Day through a cultural programme. Arjun Harshit Tailor from class 3 B highlighted significance of the day. Jevita delivered the welcome address. Diona D’Souza from class 8 B proposed a vote of thanks. Amy D’Souza from class 8 A compered the programme.
