Beltangady, Feb 4: The police have intensively interrogated two individuals arrested in connection with the explosion at the firecracker manufacturing unit in Kadatharu, Goliangadi, Kukkedi village near Venur.
The blast resulted in the tragic death of three laborers, with two of the bodies being blown into pieces. After DNA verification, the remains were handed over to their respective families. Spot inspections have been nearly completed by all relevant departments.
The unit owner, Syed Basheer, and Kiran, a native of Hassan who supplied laborers to the unit, are currently in police custody until February 5. The investigation is proceeding from various angles.
Senior officials from all concerned departments have visited the site and prepared reports necessary for further investigation. Raw materials for firecracker preparation and other items present at the scene during the explosion have been sent to the forensic laboratory.
The arrested individuals are scheduled to be produced in court on February 5. Public entry within a 100-meter radius of the blast site is prohibited, and the police are maintaining 24x7 surveillance. As per court orders, future transportation and handling of the firecracker stock in the godown will be regulated. District SP Rishyant provided this information.
