Mangaluru Feb 8: IDFC first bank will present the second edition of Mangaluru Triathlon as part of Tapasya Beach Festival organized by Tapasya Foundation on February 18 at Tannirbhavi beach Mangaluru Surf Club.
The three day Tapasya beach festival will be held from February 16 to 18 supported by Lions Club International Foundation. Led by founder and managing trustee of Tapasya Foundation and Lions Childhood Cancer coordinator Ln Sabitha R Shetty, secretary Vishwas Rao Ucchil, treasurer Anil U P, mentor Naveen Chandra Hegde, trustee and convenor for Tapasya Beach Festival and Triathlon Dr Asha Jyothi Rai, trustees Dr Sudharama Rai, Mohan Shetty, Hari Prasad Rai Bellipady, Padmini Rao, advisor and senior partner NBS and Co., chairman of Triveni group and Rupeeeboss CANB Shetty.
Tapasya Foundation is all set to organize Olympic level triathlon which means its 1.5 km swim + 40km cycling + 10km run which is partially on beach. The entire event will be for the noble cause to support cancer patients. The event has attracted people from pan-India, in addition armed forces will be taking part in the event.
In order to accommodate local athletes, individual events will also be conducted such as half marathon, 2 km wheel chair race, 2 km charity walk, fun beach run (5 km of running race on the beach), 20 km fun cycling, open sea fun swim (500 meters of open sea swimming), dream beach run (10km running race on beach), dream cycling (40 km of cycling race), and dream swim (1,000 meters of open sea swimming). The individual events for the local athletes will encourage them for the triathlon. All the event winners will be awarded with cash prizes.
It will be fun filled three-day event for the people at Tapasya Beach Festival. Apart from triathlon, there will be kite festival, beach kushti, beach volleyball, Kalaripayatu and Malkhamb will be demonstrated, bike show where super bikes and super cars will be displayed, surfing, Krishi Mela and food fest.
To encourage students, a start-up fest ‘Emerge 2024’ will nurture emerging start-ups.
To empower woman entrepreneurs, ‘Nav Nari Udyam’ stalls will be put up which include handicrafts, food and more.
