Mangalore: ‘Beary Sammelan’ Back in City After 13 Years

Mangalore, Sep 24: The Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy will be organizing a state-level ‘Beary Sammelan’ at Town Hall here, on December 10 and 11.

Nearly 10,000 people including representatives of Beary organizations from across the country and abroad will participate in the two-day event. The Sammelan will be held under the leadership of veteran Beary leader and former education minister B A Moidin. It will be the second Beary Sammelan in the city after the first one that was held in 1998.

A research book on Beary language, culture, history, and harmony authored by Dr Susheela P Upadhyaya and Professor B M Ichlangodu, both in Kannada and English, will be released during the event.

A poets’ session as well as seminars on Beary literature, trade, education, employment, women’s issues, and integral progress of the Beary community, will be conducted by veteran religious leaders and scholars on the occasion.
The Beary Academy had organized 56 programmes across the state in places like Bangalore, Mysore, and Madikeri in the past 23 months.
