Udupi: Fishing boat sinks at Ratnagiri, seven fishermen rescued

Udupi, Feb 22: A deep sea fishing boat that went for fishing from Malpe port near here sank at Ratnagiri of Maharashtra. All seven fishermen on board were rescued.

Ananthakrishna boat, owned by Prakash Devadiga that left from Malpe port hit some unidentifed object in the sea while fishing at Ratnagiri sea water and water started seeping in. Personnel of Gayathri and Meenakshi boats which were fishing in nearby waters, immediately rescued the seven fishermen on board of Anantkrishna boat.

However, the boat could not be saved from sinking. It is estimated that the loss is Rs 60 lac including fish worth Rs six lac.
