Mangalore, Sep 26: A girl from Nodu in Bejai in the city committed suicide at her home at around 11.30 am on Sunday September 25. She has been identified as Apoorva (13), daughter of Gopalakrishna Bhat. She was the ninth standard student of a high school in the city, it is gathered.
There was no one at home when the girl hanged herself from the fan in her home, as her parents were away. The family members said she was viewing some television programme. It is guessed that she would have tried to replicate some stunt she had seen on the television.
Some sources claimed that Apoorva had been suffering from bouts of depression since the last some years, and that regular treatments had addressed her condition.
A case in this connection was filed at Urwa police station.
