Mangaluru: State level workshop on academic writing held at GFGC Kavoor

Mangaluru, Mar 2: Implementation of research based teaching learning in the education system leads to enhanced learning.  In this connection a state level workshop on academic writing – need of the hour was organized for teachers and research scholars by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell at GFGC Kavoor on Friday, March 1.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr Prakash Pinto, professor & dean department of business administration, St Joseph Engineering College (Autonomous), Vamanjoor.  He emphasized the importance of ethics in  research and suggested the delegates to understand the information available from different sources,  to analyze and evaluate the same critically in order to arrive at logical conclusion. 

The IQAC coordinator Dr Therese Periera gave a prelude to the programme. The guest of honour Sudha Prahlad, member of CDC appreciated the noble services of teachers to the student community and their contribution to the society. 

The formal Programme was presided by the principal Dr Geetha M L,  who addressed the gathering  and motivated them to involve in quality research. Dr Santhosh Pinto, Student Welfare Officer welcomed the gathering and Mamatha S, Department of Commerce proposed vote of thanks.  The IQAC Co-coordinator Jyothi Shetty compeered the programme.  

Formal inauguration was followed by three technical sessions. In the first session on 'Basics of Research', Dr Prakash Pinto, explained the various dimensions  of research. 

In the second session on 'Application of Statistical Tools in Data Analysis using Excel', Vanaja A,  assistant professor department of BCA, St Alosyius Deemed to be University gave hands-on training to the delegates on the various statistical tools like F-Test, T-Test etc.,

In the third session on 'Writing of Research Paper' Dr Preethi Keerthi D’Souza gave an elaborate idea as to how to choose journals for publication and the procedure to publish a research article.  She also explained the requirements of a good research paper and abstract of the paper.   

At the valedictory of workshop, the chief guest Dr Preethi Keerthi D’Souza emphasized on the team work and knowledge sharing for successful academic writing.  A few participants gave oral feedback appreciate the efforts of team GFGC Kavoor in organizing a very useful programme to the teachers. The valedictory programme was compered by Jyothi Shetty, IQAC co-coordinator.  Manjunath, department of commerce welcomed the guests and Dr Therese Periera, IQAC coordinator proposed vote of thanks.
