Kasargod, Sep 27: A protest organized by CPM Bambrana zonal committee in support of various demands on Monday September 26 by way of laying siege to Kumble gram panchayat office turned violent. Two police constables and two CPM activists were injured in the incident.

As decided earlier, the CPM activists had come in a procession in front of the gram panchayat office. When they tried to barge into the office, the policemen stopped them. Some of the activists then demolished a part of the compound wall and surged ahead. The policemen resorted to light lathi charge. Taking advantage of the volatile situation, a few miscreants hurled stones at the policemen. Additional police force then arrived on the scene to control the situation.

Kumble police constables, Shinish and Sanal, apart from CPM activists, Koggu and another person were injured. They are being treated in different hospitals. The protestors were demanding completion of EMS house construction, steps against sand mafia, streamlining of pension disbursement, etc.

Condemning highhanded attitude of the policemen in caning CPM activists in the said protest, activists of Democratic Youth Federation of India organized a procession in Kumble town. They alleged that the policemen tried to supress the peaceful protestors.
