Mangaluru, Mar 8: The farewell ceremony for the students of class 7 of St Aloysius College Higher Primary School was held on March 7. The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the students and the chief guest. They were brought in a procession to the school hall, setting the tone for a day filled with reminiscence and celebration.
The ceremonial lighting of the lamp symbolized the illumination of knowledge and wisdom, marking the beginning of a new journey for the departing students.
The students of class 7, conducted a solemn prayer service, invoking blessings for the students as they embark on their future endeavors and thanking God for all that they have received.
A warm welcome to all present was rendered by Akshaj Pai and Aaron D’Souza.
Emotions ran high as the outgoing students Ashwini, Saanvi and Prinston shared heartfelt reflections on their time spent in the school, expressing gratitude to teachers, classmates, and staff for their support and guidance.
A poignant farewell song by the students of class 6 echoed through the hall, capturing the essence of departure and new beginnings, evoking nostalgia and hope for the future.
The chief guest of the programme Nandan Mallya, emphasized the importance of education beyond the classroom, urging students to interact, travel, and understand diverse cultures. He stressed the significance of respecting elders, teachers, and maintaining green surroundings. Encouraging students to be responsible citizens, he highlighted the need to condemn wrongdoing, face failures positively, and persevere until achieving their goals.
The students, led by the headmistress Josita Noronha solemnly took an oath, pledging to uphold the values instilled in them by their alma mater and to strive for excellence in all their endeavors.
Each student was honored with a memento as a token of appreciation for their contributions to the school community and as a reminder of the cherished memories shared together.
The correspondent Fr John D’Souza SJ conveyed his best wishes to the outgoing students, encouraging them to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead with confidence and determination. He gave a call to the students to share with the society at large, what they learnt in the school.
A lively dance performance by the students of class 3, 4,5 and 6, added to the festive atmosphere, showcasing the talent and camaraderie of the students one last time before parting ways.
Expressions of gratitude were extended by Dhanraj, student of 6th standard, to all those who made the event possible, including teachers, staff, parents, and volunteers, for their unwavering support and dedication.
The programme concluded with a rendition of the school anthem, uniting everyone in a sense of pride and belonging, as they bid farewell to the class 7 students with fond memories and best wishes for their future endeavors.
