New Delhi, Sep 28: Sedentary lifestyle, erratic eating habits like excess consumption of fast food and stress at workplace are rapidly taking their toll on the lives of young Indians, according to the recent survey.

A survey conducted on World Health Day by Metropolis Healthcare, with blood samples of men and women of the 25-45 age group, tested for cholesterol (total) serum, triglycerides level in serum, HDL cholesterol serum and LDL cholesterol serum to evaluate risk factors for coronary diseases, reveals that high number of youngsters already have alarmingly high cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Cities like Ahmedabad, Mumbai Bangalore, New Delhi, Hyderabad are more affected.

Among those surveyed, 25% men were found to be suffering from high or abnormal levels of cholesterol and triglyceride in their blood stream. This prevalence is alarming as a study conducted by the South Asian Health Centre among Asian Indian men showed that half of all heart attacks in this population occur under the age of 50 years, and 25% under the age of 40.

Some doctors in the metros have been reporting a higher trend of heart attacks in young people, especially men in their 20s, 30s and 40s.

As compared to men, women were found to have less problem with cholesterol with 19% of them having high lipid and cholesterol levels. "A study on fasting samples was done for lipid profile. All the values showed marked increase in the young age group. Interestingly, triglycerides levels in females are in good control compared to males which could be because of day-to-day household activities which make them physically fit."

MR. P.A.L. RANQUINHA: Your information about Homeopathy in England which is called as a
"WITCHCRAFT" was quite interesting and surprising. The Royal family of Engalnd are strong believers in the Homepathic medicines. Based on your comment, they may be practising "witchcraft".

It may be true that some unethical people might be manufacturing the AYURVEDIC and  HOMEOPATHIC medicines in a cheaper manner to make money. But it doesn't mean that those two great medical systems are disappearing from the world, but indeed getting more popularity in many parts of the world, especially in the U.S.

For occasional sleeplessness, I take an Homeopathic medicine made in the U.S. by Luyties. The ingredients are minute dose of Avena St, Kali phos and Passiflora. This non-prescription medicine is the best I have used for sleeplessness. If the people are consuming any kind of medication straight from the stores, that is their mistake, and we can't blame the medical system.

I wonder a gentleman from Udupi has no common sense for 'food for thought'It is ironic that the primary knowledge about food consumption lacking by the individual even after we are living in internet age is unfortunate!!! .

Just I mentioned my earlier comments about walking/Running-I just add that regular walking/running improves our cardiovascular health.During a run, a person's arteries expand and contract three times more than when being sedentary. This helps the elasticity of the arteries and it keeps arteries open which in turn lowers B.pressure by keeping Blood flow smooth.

Regular walk/run raises good (HDL) CHOLESTEROL and reduces the risk of BLOOD CLOTTING.For whomsoever it may concern.... leaves called 'celery' which burns more calories while chewing than what it again enhances burning extra calories during digestion.

    EVERY INDIAN IS A DOCTOR.

IN INDIA EVERY PLACE IS A TOILET SPITING AREA AND GARBAGE AREA.

EVERY INDIAN IS A CONSULTANT AND
    ADVISER IN ANY SUBJECT.

THERE ARE SIX MEDICAL COLLEGES IN OUR TWIN DISTRICTS. OUT OF WHICH FOUR ARE WITH POST GRADUATE STUDIES.

THERE ARE MANY SUPER SPECIALITY HOSPITALS IN OUR TWIN DISTRICTS IN GENERAL AND STATE IN PARTICULAR.

BUT SAD THING IS THAT PEOPLE GO TO AN ASTROLOGER, OR AN UNEDUCATED SELF MADE DOCTOR, TAKE AYURVEDIC OR HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINES READILY AVAILABLE IN MANY SHOPS WITHOUT KNOWING THE CONTENTS INSIDE.

A LAB ANALYSIS CONDUCTED IN THE STATE OF KERALA HAS FOUND THAT NINETY NINE PERCENT OF THE AYURVEDIC MEDICINES CONTAIN MORE FIFTY PERCENT OF ALCOHOL AND HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINES CONTAIN MILD STEROIDS.

THAT IS WHY THESE MEDICINES ARE BANNED IN MANY ADVANCED COUNTRIES. AND IN UNITED KINGDOM THEY CALL HOMEOPATHY AS WITCH CRAFT.

CAN ANY ONE PLS. EDUCATE ME THAT IS THERE ANY GOVERNEMENT AGENCY OR LABORATORIES WHICH CONDUCTS TESTING/ANALYSIS OF THESE MEDICINES AND IS IT MANDATORY FOR THESE COMPANIES/ MANUFACTURERS TO OBTAIN A LICENSE OR APROVAL BEFORE RELEASING A NEW MEDICINE? IS THERE A PERIODICAL ANALYSIS OF AYURVEDIC AND HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINES LIKE A DRUG CONTROLER FOR ALLOPATHIC MDECINES???

When delicious food (meat) comes, people say what ya let us eat it nothing will happen. No body lives for ever. L et us enjoy life. When you advise smoker,,,he says if i smoke nothing happens to me. That Dr. smokes ,this Dr, smokes and they advise others. If a person gets pain in chest or arm if you tell him to go and see physician ,,he will say what ya they will ask for blood test ,this test, that test and they will give big list of medicine and diseases. So it is useless to advise people who have no knowledge about health and science. For any sickness they will go to astrologers and seek advise. For pain they will go for liquor. If they get news of sudden death(Heart attack) some people say" Bootha akdini". So educaton and spreading health and science knowledge is essential. Eradicating superstitions(superstitious belief) is another step to gain health.

Lack of physical exercise, and eating more of junk food, such as pastries, pizza, pies, hamburgers and creamy pasta dishes mainly contribute to the high cholesterol. Here are a few hints and guidelines to reduce and/or limit your cholesterol. Avoid all sorts of fried foods. While it is well known that foods like red meat, eggs, butter and cheese do contain high percentage of fat content, which largely contribute to the high cholesterol, it is now well established and beyond doubt that cocunut (and cocunut oil as well) which Indians use in plenty in their chutnies, curries and other cuisines has high fat content and, therefore, should be avoided altogether. Nowadays there is the coconut skim milk available in the supermarkets (comes in small tins) which can be used instead for cooking. Coconut oil also to be avoided, instead use canola, sunflower or soyabean. Of course, cholesterol free olive oil is quite good, but it is rather expensive. Eat only lean meat, trimmed of fat, and chicken without skin. Limit eating the fatty sausages and salami. Incorporate dried beans, peas and lentils in your diet, and of course, eat plenty of green vegetables and fruits. With the rapid economic development in India during the past few decades, there are plenty of middle and rich class families have emerged, so also the fast lifestyle, so much so, and sadly, less and less quality cooking takes place at home kitchens and people are resorting to short cuts like takeaway food etc.

Its not the Fast food that causes cholestrol in Young Indian its the Normal food we eat cos Indian food is no Food unless it has ben cooked with 2 litres of Oil or Ghee.. added to that 70% of cholestrol is produced by our body itself so it really does not matter if one jus eats veggies for the rest of his life but he can have cholestrol too for the simple reason the amount of oil or Ghee he uses to cook those veggies

Fast Foods&Junk foods are mainly responsible for high cholesterol in the circumstances of mechanical life present generation. Last night's Morning 'GANJI, with yogurt is far better than Jam/Butter/ oily french toasts/sausages/francs for breakfast.More Veggie in lunch and dinner with occasional non veg solve the problem. But remember, exercise and walking daily for a while enhance healthy life....
