Hubballi, Mar 17: BJP leader and former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday expressed confidence that senior party leader and former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa being convinced to toe party line and desist from contesting as an independent from Shivamogga over the denial of the party ticket to his son Kanthesh.

Speaking to media persons at his residence in Hubballi, he said Eshwarappa is a senior BJP leader and will abide by the party decision despite being miffed at denial of the ticket to his son.

‘’Eshwarappa knows fully well that B Y Raghavendra, BJP sitting MP of Shivamogga, is working for the development of Shivamogga and was chosen for his work and not because his father is B S Yediyurappa,’’ said Bommai.

Answering questions from media persons, Bommai made it clear that he ‘’is unaware of any plans for changing his constituency of Haveri’’ as claimed by party leader Ramesh Jarkiholi.

‘’He (Jarkiholi) may be in touch with the high command. But I don't know what Ramesh has said about the change in the constituency. Today, I am campaigning in Shiggaon which would come under the Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency and the local MP Prahlad Joshi had been given invitation. This time, Joshi would be given more lead from the Shiggaon Assembly constituency,’’ Bommai said.

He said he will be visiting Gadag district that comes under Haveri Lok Sabha constituency on Monday.

Bommai also addressed party workers at Hanagal after paying homage to senior party leader C M Udasi by offering flowers to the latter’s Samadhi.

How many BJPs are there? DeccanHerald on 17 March 2024, at 14:42 said that efforts to convince determined K S Eshwarappa yield no result as sources in the party stated that despite the national leaders holding meeting with Eshwarappa at his residence in Malleshwaranagar in the city on Sunday, consensus could be reached. Now Bommai says, Eshwarappa will toe party line? How many lines? So, BJP too has APPA, AMMA, children in the party? So it is not dynasty? By the way, people are blind, deaf and dead in conscience. So, they can be fooled day in and out. Best way out is from Electoral Bonds or PM Cares Fund release some funds to Appa and children. What they aspire after all is money.

Senior leader of your criminal party knows all your illegal conspiracies, frauds and scams, so you don’t want him to spill your beans at this sensitive time. As it is electoral bonds scam has caused significant damage to BJP’s election prospects declining its popularity and trust to very low level. BTW, Modi should also have his PM CARES Fund audited since it has never been audited after 2014 which is absolutely illegal and anti constitutional. Congress while ruling had audited the same every year.

Gautam das, There is no corruption charges that is proved by the any of the pappu gang people. Unlike before 2014 every year we had huge scams like Coal scam: (2012) 2G spectrum scam: (2008) Chopper scam: (2012) Tatra truck scam: (2012) CWG scam: (2010) Cash-for-vote scam: (2011) Adarsh scam: (2012) Where god knows how much money was taken in by many corrupt people.
