Mangaluru: Police issue externment orders against 7 offenders ahead of LS polls

Media Release

Mangaluru, Mar 17: In a bid to ensure the smooth and equitable conduct of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate has implemented preemptive measures to uphold public peace and order. As part of this initiative, seven individuals with criminal backgrounds have been subjected to externment orders under the Karnataka Police Act, effectively removing them from the Dakshina Kannada district for a period of three months.

Additionally, in an effort to promote peace and encourage good behavior, security bonds have been imposed for a one-year period on 286 individuals who are habitual offenders and deemed likely to breach the peace.

Why externment ?? They will create problems in the district where they settle for three months. Instead put them in some remote jail outside Karnataka.
