Mangaluru, Mar 21: The Deshapremi Sanghatanegala Okkutta took out a procession from Sri Venkataramana Temple on the car street to RTI activist Late Vinayak Baliga's residence at Kalakunj on Thursday, March 21 to mark his eighth death anniversary.
Vinayak Baliga was brutally murdered near his residence at Kala Kunj in the early hours of March 21, 2016. The case is yet to be cracked and the culprits behind the murder are yet to be punished.
The procession began with a prayer by Vinayak Baliga’s sisters to deity Lord Sri Venkataramana to give justice to their brother.
Activist Narendra Nayak said, "It has been 8 years since the Vinayak Baliga was murdered but still no justice has been provided. Now, elections have been announced and our MP who was replaced for the upcoming elections has not even visited Vinayak Baliga's house during the last 8 years who was also a party representative. Prof Narendra Nayak had criticised both the parties who failed to provide justice. Then former MLA J R Lobo visited Vinayak Baliga's residence and had shed crocodile tears but has since then remained silent."
When Narendra Nayak criticised Congress party in his speech, Sunil Bajilakeri opposed Narendra Nayak's speech as even a few Congress party representatives was also took part in the procession.
Vinayak Baliga's sister Anuradha Baliga, Harsha Baliga, DYFI leader Muneer Katipalla, Santhosh Bajal, Bharathi Bolar, Congress leaders M G Hegde, Manjula Nayak, Appi, Prakash Salian and others were present.
