Mangaluru: YIASCM hosts workshop on human trafficking awareness programme

Mangaluru, Mar 25: On February 23, Yenepoya Institute of Arts Science, Commerce & Management hosted a day-long workshop on 'Change for restoring Human Dignity', a human trafficking awareness programme.

The workshop was organised by the department of humanities & social sciences and NSS UNIT 10 Kulur in collaboration with the anti-human, Trafficking Cell, Mangalore University, Konaje. The event commenced with an impactful speech by Dr Arun Bhagvath.  

Vice principal Dr Shareena P, Dr Sakeena Nasser HOD, department of humanities & social sciences, programme coordinator Dr Savitha and NSS programme officer Abdul Rasheed K M were also present. Prof P G Acquinas, the chairman of the Anti Human Trafficking Cell at Mangalore University, gave insightful sessions during the workshop on topics related to human dignity. He also shared information about trafficking victims, potential hotspots for trafficking, factors that increase a victim's susceptibility to trafficking on victims as well as society.

Dr Yashaswini B, assistant professor (senior scale) department of MSW, Mangalore University, shed light on the vulnarabilities of women to trafficking and educated attendees on how to respond in such situations.

“SAY NO TO HUMAN TRAFFICKING” was the slogan used to end of the programme.
