Mudigere, Apr 7: “If democracy has to survive, people should question the mistakes made by the government and the opposition parties should also question them. There should not be a state that what the government has done is right," said Congress candidate for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency Jayaprakash Hegde.
He also felt that it is becoming clear that people want change in this election.
Addressing a meeting of Congress workers at the Congress Bhavan here on Sunday, April 7, Jayaprakash Hegde said, "If a winning MP does not return to the constituency he represented after years, it is natural that the people there want change. It is clear by seeing the progress of some of the roads here. If I get another chance I will bring those works back to life. I am satisfied that I have responded to the needs of coffee growers and arecanut growers within a short period of time as a MP. The assurances given by the central government remain the same - 2 crore jobs a year, 15 lac into every account and no one is questioning all this. Note the work I have done in the past, note the work done by previous MPs, note the performance, progress and support. Allow me to work hard for the development of your field once again.” .
Speaking on this occasion, former minister Motamma said, "The responsibility of making Jayaprakash Hegde win this election lies with the people of our Chikkamagaluru. Jayaprakash Hegde has done good deeds as a representative in the past. Railway service is in front of our eyes. We should all work together to help such a good and experienced candidate win," she said.
"We have to work to uproot the BJP in the country. If we want to get rid of those who do false politics, we all should be organised and work hard for the success of the Congress party. He supported the struggle of coffee growers. Jayaprakash Hegde is responsible for the ongoing highway work. It is good that everyone is supporting Jayaprakash Hegde till now. The state government has implemented good schemes for women and they have been successful. Due to this, the people of Chikkamagaluru should see the performance of Jayaprakash Hegde and encourage them. The people of the district have wished for a Congress government. Now once again there is hope that he will grant the wish," she said.
