Mangaluru, Apr 17: A day of celebration and jubilation for the members and supporters of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Permude, as they gathered to celebrate their 45th Annual Day on April 14 with a series of performances, ceremonies, and recognitions.
The event, hosted by Zeena Fernandes which was commenced with a mesmerizing prayer dance that set a reverent tone for the festivities. Distinguished guests graced the occasion, including Permude parish priest Fr Ronald Pinto, Fr Anil Roshan Lobo, chaplain of John Paul II Shrine and spiritual director of Kripa Sadana and ICYM Mangalore diocese president Mithesh D’Souza. Animators of ICYM Permude, Roshan D’Souza and Vinitha Tauro, were also present to inaugurate the day's programme.
Nithin D'Cunha, president of ICYM Permude, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, setting the stage for an engaging and celebratory event. The annual report, which highlights the year’s activities and achievements, was eloquently presented by Sony D’Souza, giving attendees insight into the hard work and dedication of the ICYM members throughout the past year.
An exciting aspect of the celebration was the distribution of prizes to the winners of various games and competitions held prior to the event, adding a sense of fun and competitive spirit to the proceedings.
The felicitation ceremony, conducted by Jevita Fernandes, was a focal point of the event. It acknowledged the outstanding achievements of four young individuals: Shwetha D’Souza, Dr Glenisha D’Souza, Lethisha D’Souza, and CA Jenavy Pereira. Their contributions and achievements brought pride to the community and served as inspiration for their peers.
Renisha D’Souza offered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude toward all those who supported and participated in making the event successful, especially thanking the performers, volunteers, and attendees.
The cultural programme that followed was a display of talent and creativity, hosted by Jevita Fernandes and Maquine Rosario. The audience was treated to an array of performances, including dances and humorous skits. The highlight of the cultural segment was a skit titled ‘Sukon Gelli Sheli’ performed by members of the Permude parish, which drew significant applause for its humour and local flavour.
All of which showcased the dynamic and artistic talents of the ICYM members.
