Kasargod, Apr 23: A house located at Baredala near Sheni Maniyampare, within the jurisdiction of the 14th ward of Enmakaje gram panchayat in the district, caught fire accidentally on Monday afternoon. The house was completely gutted by the fire, but miraculously, two children and their grandfather who were inside the house at the time of the incident managed to escape unharmed.

The house belonged to Batya Naika, the son of late Kutti Naika. Batya Naika and his two grandchildren were inside the house when the fire broke out. Batya Naika quickly led the children out of the house to safety.

Nalini, Batya Naika's daughter-in-law, had gone to a nearby milk dairy to deliver milk from the cow in the afternoon. Shortly after her departure, a room in the house caught fire. Batya Naika noticed the fire and promptly informed his daughter-in-law. She instructed Batya to take the children to a nearby house. While Batya Naika rushed out to inform the neighbors, the house was engulfed in flames and eventually burned down completely, as the roof was constructed of wood.

Cash, gold, land records, a cupboard, refrigerator, TV, and all other household items were destroyed in the fire. The full gas cylinder burst due to the intense heat, causing the walls of the house to collapse. Local residents made efforts to remove the gas cylinder from the kitchen.

Fire service personnel from Kasargod arrived and managed to bring the fire under control. Somashekar, the president of Enmakaje gram panchayat, arrived at the scene and arranged temporary accommodation for the affected family members.
