Kundapur, May 2: Gangadhar Puttur, a renowned Yakshagana artist who served for an extensive period at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, passed away at the age of 59.

It is reported that while removing the makeup from his role as Kukkithaya at the Dharmasthala Kshetra Mahatme Yakshagana, he suffered a fatal heart attack on the veranda on Wednesday May 1.

Born to Narayana Mayya and Lakshmi in Sediapu, Puttur, in 1964, Gangadhar Puttur began his acting career at the age of 18.

Throughout his illustrious career, he portrayed various roles including those of women, kings, and villains. His diverse roles included Malini, Chitrangade, Mohini, Dakshayani, Pramile, Sridevi, Seetha, Devendra, Dushasana, among others.
