Kundapur, May 18: The high court (HC) has granted anticipatory bail to Udaya Kumar Shetty, bank supervisor of SCDCC Bank, Siddapur, in connection with the suicide of Asha, the assistant manager of the bank, on March 23 earlier this year. Asha's husband had filed a police complaint at Shankaranarayana police station regarding the incident.

In his complaint, Asha's husband stated that his wife had gone to work at 9 am on March 23. Around 12:30 pm, the bank manager, Mahesh Rao, called him to inform him that Asha had left work without completing her tasks. When he rushed home, he found Asha attempting to end her life. He immediately took her to the hospital, but she died on the way. The complaint alleged that bank supervisor Udaya Kumar Shetty had accused Asha of financial misconduct and was pressuring her to repay the amount, even suggesting that she should commit suicide if she failed to do so.

The police registered an FIR against Udaya Kumar Shetty, accusing him of persuading Asha to end her life and other related allegations. Fearing arrest, Udaya Kumar Shetty approached the high court for anticipatory bail.

Justice H P Sandesh, who heard the case, granted anticipatory bail to the accused on the condition that he must present himself before the investigating officer and cooperate with the investigation.
