New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS): After playing a happy-go-lucky girl in the show "Miley Jab Hum Tum", TV actress Rati Pandey is playing a serious girl in Zee TV's new show "Hitler Didi" - a role that's completely opposite to her real self.
"This role is quite difficult as I have to be serious all the time. I am a very chirpy and bubbly girl in real life, I keep on smiling all the time. Also, I don't want to be monotonous with this character, as for someone who plays a serious role, there are hardly any shades," Rati told IANS.
"I have tried to bring in some variations and hope hard work pays off," she added.
In this show, Rati is playing Indrani, who takes up the responsibility of looking after her family singlehandedly. The show has Delhi as its backdrop and it is also being shot completely in Delhi. It will go on air Oct 31.
The actress has been in the industry for six years and done shows like "Raat Hone Ko Hai" and "Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai". However, she rose to limelight with "Miley Jab Hum Tum".
A commerce graduate, acting was never on the mind of this 29-year-old, who had plans of either opting for fashion designing course or open a firm. But her stint on the small screen has been quite fruitful and learning.
"I have noticed tremendous change in myself after coming into the industry. I was very innocent and ignorant earlier, but then being on the sets and knowing people, I have started learning. I am fortunate to work with veteran actors like Alok Nath, Sejal Shah, Meghna Malik," said Rati.
"I have grasped a lot of things from their performances. I am still in the learning process. This has helped me in my growing period, I am growing with these experiences. It was initially difficult as no one in our family has ever been in this profession and there was no one to guide, but now I am enjoying it," she added.
After being a part of "Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai", the actress has decided not to be a part of saas-bahu sagas anymore.
"Preferably I will not go for saas-bahu saga because I have already done one," she said.
With the cut-throat competition in showbiz, Rati knows she can't take it easy and has to overcome some shortcomings.
"If I have to achieve my goal I would be very headstrong, otherwise I am a very sentimental and emotional person in real life. A lot depends on the circumstances also, many times it happens my heart takes over my mind while taking decision and I have to bear the results," she said.
