Man kills wife, chops body into pieces in Tumakuru village

Bengaluru, May 28 (IANS): In a shocking incident, a man killed his wife and then chopped the body into pieces in Karnataka's Tumakuru district, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Hospet village in the district. The deceased woman was identified as 32-year-old Pushpa. The accused husband, identified as Shivaram, was arrested by the police.

According to the police, Shivaram committed the crime after a quarrel with his wife on Monday night.

He allegedly beheaded Pushpa and dismembered her body in the kitchen. Pushpa hailed from Sagara town in Shivamogga district.

The couple lived in a rented house with their eight-year-old child. The accused worked as a helper at a sawmill.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the couple quarrelled frequently, said officials.

Terrible. How sad to hear that the small child is now without mother and without father ?because father will have to be in jail. One cant understand how he not only severed her head but later dismembered her body´.No feelings? These mostly workers work ,then carry the money to drink liquor, when come home drunken quarrel with wife/children.No peace.Sad events .Parents should better just findout first character of a man before they give their daughter in hands of a man he doesnt know. That too from distant place.May the soul of that lady find peace in Heaven now and bless the child.Heartfelt sympathy to the child and family.

When entering a relationship and eventually marrying, neither men nor women own each other. Marriage signifies a mutual liking based on shared values. If circumstances change and someone wishes to separate, they shouldn’t be trapped or coerced. Unfortunately, across Indian culture, regardless of religion or caste, there’s a tendency for men to believe they have ownership rights over women—a notion that’s absurd and not endorsed by any religion. When couples no longer wish to live together, they should part with dignity. Taking someone’s life is cruel and unjustifiable. Given the alarming trend of violence against women, it is crucial that we collectively address this issue through workshops organized by our government and educational institutions. Additionally, we should educate our children within families to foster a culture of respect and equality. Unfortunately our government is busy sowing to create enmity between religion /caste or just on our party preferences.
