Mangaluru: Dr Nareshchand Hegde leads dynamic campaign in SW Teachers' constituency ahead of polls

Mangaluru, Jun 2: Dr Nareshchand Hegde, the MLC candidate for the south-west teachers’ constituency, is vigorously campaigning ahead of the election on June 3.

Dr Hegde is confident in his ability to instigate change, and the voters are rallying behind him, anticipating a transformation this time around.

He has visited a majority of educational institutions in his constituency, engaging with teachers to discuss his vision for change.

Actor Aravind Bolar took the spotlight as he campaigned for Dr Hegde in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Moodabidiri, and Karkala, while Kannada actor Pratham campaigned in Chikkamagaluru on his behalf.

In a compassionate gesture, Dr Hegde visited the residence of animal lover Rajani Shetty, presenting 250 reflecting collars for dogs.

Dr Hegde aims to address the longstanding educational issues in the southwest teachers' constituency, which has previously seen politicians without degrees getting elected. He hopes to meet the expectations of educated voters who are looking for capable leadership from within their own ranks, promising positive change.

Born into a distinguished family, Dr Hegde is the son of Dr Manoranjan Das Hegde, a renowned government doctor in Udupi while his wife, Saroja M Hegde, is a graduate and homemaker, while Dr Hegde's wife, Dr Jyothi Rao, is a respected pharmacology guide.

Dr Hegde himself is a professor and heart specialist at K S Hegde Medical Academy, with a notable career spanning multiple prestigious institutions including Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, and Rajarajeshwari Medical Institute, Bengaluru.

He has performed thousands of rare heart and organ surgeries, saving numerous lives, presented research theses nationally and internationally, participated in over 50 medical conferences, and published a significant research report on heart problems in a national journal. He also created curricula for BSc and MSc perfusion technology courses and served as a senate member of Mangalore University and president of KMC Irndocs Association.
