Bengaluru, Jun 3: Even as the opposition BJP and JDS are demanding the resignation of Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister B Nagendra over the alleged Rs 187 crore misappropriation of funds from the State Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation, that has led the suicide of a Superintendent blaming the then Managing Director, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has clarified that he has not asked the minister to quit.

“The government has already ordered a CID probe into the alleged scandal,” he said making it clear that any decision will be taken only after receiving the preliminary investigation report.

Speaking to media persons in Vidhana Soudha on Monday, he declared the Congress government will not bow down to the June 6 deadline set by BJP for the minister’s resignation and made it clear that the government will follow the procedure.

Siddaramaiah said the opposition parties cannot set any deadline to the government and are free to launch any kind of agitation if they want.

The Chief Minister expressed happiness that the City has been receiving good rains in the last couple of days and has asked the civic authorities to get ready to face any eventuality.

“The government is hopeful of a good monsoon this year so that farmers should be happy,” he said.

Answering questions, the Chief Minister dismissed the findings of the exit polls, which have predicted BJP and NDA to do exceedingly well and better than in 2019, and asserted that the Congress party is confident INDIA block coming to power and winning at least 15 out of the 28 seats in Karnataka.

“Let us wait for results on Tuesday,” he added.

Siddu is right in saying that his minister isn’t been asked to resign because this crime happened during BJP rule under its own managing director. BJP is desperately trying to cover its foot prints and blood trail and shift the blame on Congress.
