Vote counting begins for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency

Udupi, Jun 4: The vote counting process for the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency commenced on Tuesday at the St Cecily School premises. The strong room was officially opened by the election officials, marking the beginning of the counting process.

The procedure took place under the vigilant supervision of Udupi deputy commissioner Dr Vidyakumari and superintendent of Police Dr Arun K. Their presence ensured the integrity and security of the counting process.

A total of 12,31,005 votes have been cast in 8 assembly constituencies. A total of 77.15% voters’ turnout was recorded and the counting will take place in 135 rounds on 112 tables.

A strong security with 350 policemen has been deployed around Udupi-Chikkamagaluru counting centre.

As many as 400 policemen have been deployed in sensitive and strategic areas across the district along with 4KSRP and 4DAR with one fire brigade.

At precisely eight o'clock, the vote counting began as scheduled. The counting of postal ballots also started concurrently, adding to the momentum of the day's activities.

Among the early arrivals at the counting center was Congress candidate Jayaprakash Hegde. His presence underscored the significance of the event, as candidates and their supporters eagerly await the results.
