Bantwal, Jun 15: MLA Rajesh Naik has condemned the state government's decision to abruptly increase the tax on petrol and diesel by 4%, describing it as a burden on the people.
Criticizing the state Congress government's policies, Naik accused it of betraying the public by winning power through guarantee schemes and then depleting the state treasury. He claimed the government is now shocking the public with tax hikes.
Naik argued that since coming to power, the Congress government has raised taxes on everything and deceived the people under the guise of providing freebies, leading to increased financial burdens. He also expressed concerns that law and order have deteriorated under the current administration.
With the recent hike in fuel taxes, Naik warned that the cost of essential commodities would double, significantly affecting the daily lives of the people.
