Karnataka Fisheries chief calls for speedy completion of floating jetty at Mangaluru Port

Mangaluru, June 16: Mala B Narayana Rao, president of Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation, visited the central office on Saturday, June 15, to review the corporation's activities.

Subsequently, Mala inspected the fishing port, ice plant, and diesel bunks in the city. She instructed officials to expedite the construction of the floating jetty project, essential for anchoring country boats.

During her visit, Mala interacted with boat owners and fishermen present at the fishing port, gathering information on fishing methods and other activities.

 

In a meeting with branch officers, Mala emphasised the implementation of new projects to boost the coastal fishing industry's development. She also directed officials to ensure smooth distribution of kerosene to country boats and discussed plans to construct fish markets across the state to enhance the fishing industry.

Mala also visited the Women's Fishing Cooperative Society in Ullal, holding discussions with office-bearers and members to understand the role of fisherwomen and the society's activities.

Present during the discussions were Janaki Puthran, President of the society, Vice President Meenakshi Puthran, Directors Narayani and Rohini, and Secretary Umavati.
