Mangaluru: BJP stages protest against petrol and diesel price hike

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jun 17: The district BJP staged a protest at PVS Junction on Monday, June 17, against the Congress-led state government for increasing petrol and diesel prices by Rs 3 and Rs 3.50 per litre, respectively.

BJP leaders raised slogans against the government and displayed empty pots as a symbol of protest. They also demonstrated by pushing some vehicles and pulling some using a rope.

District BJP president Sathish Kumpala said, “The Congress government has imposed a burden on the common man by increasing petrol and diesel prices. Over the past year, the Congress government has increased the price of every commodity to recoup money from the public as compensation for their guarantees.”

MP Capt Brijesh Chowta said, “The voters have supported the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the recent elections, and in response, the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government has increased the price of petrol and diesel as a punishment, placing further burden on the people.”

MLA Vedavyas Kamath, mayor Sudheer Shetty, MLC Prathapsimha Nayak, former MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, and others were present at the protest.

Remember, state goverment has added Rs. 3 to the Central government’s Rs. 100. Thank God we have a Congress government in the state. Atleast the poor are benefitting from the state government schemes. All the previous state government did was corruption and comission.

Arrey, if the new MP is so irritated by the price hike, why doesn't he talk to his Supreme leader to reduce central taxes on fuel? The way this guy is going, he iis going to turn out to be Nalin v2.0.

In the past petrol and diesel hike was protested as it has impact on the price of everything. This Government is clearly living beyond its means that it has to now raise petrol and diesel prices on its own. Shakthi scheme will become dearer for KSRTC even more or? As if the scheme did not do enough, now fuel cost increase means the government is firmly focused on ruining the economic viability of KSRTC? So, with this hike, we have come full circle, first alcohol, then sale deed registration fees, electricity, milk, property tax and finally now petrol and diesel. What next from Siddu in the name of development?
