Udupi, Jun 21: International Yoga Day was celebrated by Yoga and Spiritual Society of IMJ Institute of Science and Commerce.
Dr Vijayalaxmi, doctor at Panchakarma clinic and ayurvedic medicine, Kundapur was the chief guest of the programme. She inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp and explained the heritage of ancient India yoga and how the world adopted it. She further explained the benefits of yoga and pranayama in daily lives. She demonstrated various asanas with the help of teachers.
Dr Prathiba M Patel, principal of IMJ Degree College presided over the programme. She addressed the gathering about the importance of yoga day celebration.
Prof Jennifer Frieda Menezes, principal of IMJ Nursing College, Prof Roopashree, vice-principal of IMJ Nursing College attended the programme. Prof Jayasheel Kumar, vice-principal of IMJ Degree College, head of the yoga and spirituality association and other teaching and non-teaching staff were present.
Prof Archana Gadde, assistant professor of department of commerce, compered the programme.
