Puttur: St Philomena College hosts Company Secretaryship workshop

Puttur, June 23: The ICSI Authorized Study Centre at St Philomena College recently hosted an impactful workshop on Company Secretaryship (CS). The event was presided over by the principal, Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who emphasized the importance of dedication and hard work for securing a good job.

“CS is a very impressive career, and one needs to study hard to excel in it. Our institution is proud to offer a CS course alongside the BBA programme. Admissions for the 2024-25 academic year are now open, and we have already seen a significant number of students enrolling in the BBA with CS programme,” he remarked.

The chief guest, CS Santosh Prabhu, engaged the students with an insightful talk about the CS course, its significance, and exam preparation strategies. His interaction provided the students with a comprehensive understanding of the course and its potential benefits.

Abhishek Suvarna, institutional coordinator, and assistant professor in the department of business administration, highlighted the exclusivity of St Philomena College as the sole ICSI study centre in Puttur.

“According to ICSI regulations, no other institution in Puttur can operate a study centre. As mandated by the Companies Act 2013, the recruitment of full-time Company Secretaries is compulsory in all international companies. Our department of business administration is dedicated to delivering superior education to our students. In the academic year 2022-23, no other institution received study centre authorization. We are proud to be the first in Puttur taluk to offer this facility,” he stated.

Hrishita and her group rendered prayer, Dr Radhakrishna Gowda, dean & head of the department of business administration welcomed. Pushpa N, assistant professor, expressed gratitude and Prashant Rai, assistant professor in the department of business administration, compered the programme. Over 150 BBA students participated. This workshop marks a significant step in the college’s commitment to providing quality education and career guidance to its students, reinforcing its position as a leading educational institution in Puttur.
