Mangaluru, Jun 25: A daring dacoity took place at the house of entrepreneur Padmanabha Kotian in Ulaibettu Permanki, under the jurisdiction of the Mangaluru rural police station, on the night of Friday. While it is unclear if a local gang or outsiders were involved, police have already interrogated several locals and are making headway in the investigation.
Police officers have stated that there is no need to travel to other states for further inquiries, suggesting that the suspects are likely local. They have also made progress in identifying the vehicle used by the thieves and expect to apprehend the dacoits soon.
The dacoity was quickly reported by the labourers residing in Padmanabha Kotian's farmhouse, alerting friends and relatives within minutes of the incident. Over 100 people rushed to Kotian’s residence, but during the chaos, no one realized that a fleeing car belonged to the dacoits. There is speculation that the dacoits may have used a rented car, and the police are gathering information on this angle as well.
Padmanabha Kotian, who suffered stab injuries and bruises during the robbery, has been discharged from the hospital on Sunday and is recovering.
Notably, a theft had occurred at a nearby Daivasthana just four days before the dacoity, raising concerns that the two incidents may be connected. The police are investigating any possible links and continuing their efforts to bring the culprits to justice.
