Puttur, Jun 30: A collision involving an Airavata bus, a goods tempo, and a Rajahamsa bus occurred at Gundya in Shiradi village, causing a traffic block on the highway for over an hour on Saturday.

The accident reportedly happened when the Airavata bus, traveling from Puttur to Bengaluru, attempted to overtake the tempo. The tempo driver lost control, resulting in a collision with the oncoming Rajahamsa bus. The tempo then fell into a roadside drain. Subsequently, the Rajahamsa bus collided with the Airavata bus, causing it to turn and block the road, halting traffic in both directions.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities. Only a few passengers in the buses sustained minor injuries. Local residents and police collaborated to clear the highway, restoring vehicle movement within an hour.

A case has been registered at the Uppinangady police station regarding the incident.
