Mangaluru, Jul 1: A violent clash broke out between rival gang members inside the Mangaluru jail on Monday, July 1, resulting in injuries to two inmates. Muhammad Sameer alias Kadapar Sameer (33), a resident of Ullal, and Muhammad Mansoor alias Boliyar Mansoor (30), a resident of Boliyar, were attacked by a group of ten rival gang members, including Topi Naufal and others. Both victims have been in judicial custody for the past 20 days in connection with Crime No. 116/2024 of Ullal police station.
The incident occurred between 6:30 PM and 6:45 PM, when the attackers, also currently in jail on various charges, assaulted Sameer and Mansoor using sharp kitchen items. The victims sustained injuries to their head, shoulder, and other body parts. They were immediately transported to Wenlock Hospital and are currently reported to be out of danger.
The attackers and victims are known to have extensive criminal records, with multiple cases filed against them. They all have rowdy sheets and are affiliated with rival gangs.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras. Following a complaint by jail authorities, a case has been registered at Barke Police Station under Crime No. 56/2024, and an investigation has been initiated.
The accused include Muffad Rifat, Muhammad Rizwan, Ibrahim Kallel, Umar Farooq Irfan, Altaf, Naufal, Jainudeen, and others.
