Kundapur, Jul 12: In a tragic accident between a private bus and a bike, a municipal worker lost his life. The incident took place on Thursday July 11 night on national highway 66, in front of the Durgamba bus depot.

The deceased is identified as Sundar (39), a municipal worker from Kundapur and a resident of Barkur’s Bandi Math, son of Shankar and Beechu.

Sundar, who had been working on a contract basis as a municipal worker for the Kundapur Municipality for the past 15 years, was returning to Kundapur on his bike from his home in Bandi Math on Thursday evening. The accident occurred when Sundar was turning his bike from the highway to the service road in front of the Durgamba bus depot on national highway 66, when a Durgamba bus coming from Kundapur collided with his bike.

Due to the severity of the collision, the bike was completely crushed under the bus, and Sundar died on the spot. It is gathered, Sundar had been appointed as a permanent municipal worker only three months ago.

Sundar's body was shifted to government hospital. The Kundapur traffic police registered a case and are investigating the matter. Public outrage has been growing, as people had previously expressed concerns about the unscientific construction of the divider in front of the Durgamba bus depot. The death of the municipal worker in this accident has further fuelled widespread anger.

Not even a day passed without the news of an accident. I feel unfortunate to drive slowly and carefully in the rainy season
