Udupi: 35-year-old woman arrested for assisting Garuda gang

Udupi, Jul 12: Udupi police have arrested a 35-year-old woman from Uppinangady, Dakshina Kannada, for providing financial assistance to members of the Garuda gang in Kaup.

The arrested individual, identified as Safara, is accused of providing financial aid and arranging shelters for the Garuda gang members.

The gang was involved in a recent road rage and attempted murder incident on the Udupi-Manipal highway, where they engaged in a street fight with swords and other weapons late at night.

Safara has also been accused of providing mobile phones and transferring money to the gang members, according to Udupi district police superintendent Dr Arun K.

The woman was produced in the court who remanded her to judicial custody.
