Dubai, Jul 13: St Mary’s Mangalorean Community (SMMC), a renowned Mangalurean Konkani organization of St Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubai, announced its new office bearers for the year 2024-2026.
Fr Victor Fernandes OFM Cap, spiritual director of SMMC made this announcement during the Konkani Mass in April. Joseph Mathias has been elected as the new coordinator of SMMC succeeding Jeevan Vaz who was the coordinator for the tenure of the previous two years 2022-2024.
Fr Victor, thanked the previous committee for their selfless service in building up the Konkani community by reaching out to needy Konkani community members. At the same time, Fr Victor blessed the new core committee members to further strengthen the unity among the Mangalurean community and to continue with determination and passion to serve the church community.

The SMMC’s new core team with the leadership and guidance of spiritual director Fr Victor is enthusiastic to plan and organize several activities and projects to elevate spiritual fortitude and render social benefits to the Mangalurean community of St Mary’s Catholic Church, Dubai.
As an initial significant event for this year, SMMC’s core team has planned a grand celebration of 9 days novena for the popular Mangalurean feast of Mother Mary ‘Monti Fest’. Monti Fest will be celebrated on Friday, September 6 at 8 pm with a brass band procession, flower veneration to Mother Mary, feast high Mass and thereafter Novem Jevann.

SMMC, a novel organization, was initiated in 2013 to cater the spiritual requirements of the vast Mangalurean Konkani community of St Mary’s Church Dubai. SMMC has successfully hosted many spiritual as well as cultural programmes like Konkani retreat – Faith Journey in the Family, Konkani cultural events and competitions, sports day, nine days Novena and Monti Fest, various other competitions, cultural events and medical and educational support to the needy people in Dubai.
