Mangaluru: Rain-caused pits increase traffic chaos at Nanthoor Circle

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jul 15: Huge pits have formed near Nanthoor Circle on NH 66 due to heavy rains, causing vehicles to move at a snail’s pace at this junction.

DCP Traffic Dinesh Kumar stated that there is no immediate solution for the traffic jam at Nanthoor Circle, but traffic department personnel are doing their best to manage the situation during the monsoon.

The construction of flyovers at Nanthoor and KPT Circle remains elusive. Former MP Nalin Kumar Kateel claimed that both flyovers are sanctioned, but work has yet to begin.

Nagaraj, a resident of Bikkarnakatte, expressed frustration, noting that politicians have been promising flyovers at Nanthoor and KPT junctions for two decades without any practical implementation. Without these flyovers, smooth traffic flow is not possible.

A traffic police officer expressed concern that the traffic situation at Nanthoor Circle will worsen if the flyover construction begins.

Dear elected representatives and the bureaucrats of Mangalore, For gods sake stop fooling the people of this town. I feel ashamed to mention Mangalore as SMART CITY. Enough is Enough. If KALLADKA can have a 2 km long single 6 lane FLY OVER built on pillars (salute to the person who stood strong and made this happen) then WHY (WHY) cant we have a single FLYOVER built in Mangalore starting from PUMPWELL up to A J HOSPITAL. All the bottle necks such as NANTHOOR Junction, PADUA Junction and KPT Junction will be avoided. Our MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta has to take the lead. We have lost hope in others as but Capt. has come like a ray of hope. Dont let us down. Latest update received is a small UNDER PASS is approved for NANTHOOR Junction. What about the other CHOKE POINTS. Traffic will block PADUA and KPT. This is just to tell the people that they are doing something. Please stop this under pass and plan for a long term permanent solution as mentioned from PUMPWELL to AJ HOSPITAL or further.

Let majority of people suffer. Majority of people don't want development. For them hindutva is important. See how other districts road projects are completed. Our NH66 from Talapady to Kundapura 4 lane work started in 2008 still not completed fully. No service roads for locals forcing them to drive on wrong side. We didn't get good MP after US Malaya and Janardhana Poojary. Since the time BJP taken over these 2 districts not much development work has been done. It's bcoz of our ebterpenueral skills our district people were ahead of other districts in terms of GDP and per capita income.

If pot holes could be blamed on one particular community, we would have seen a lot of protest. They would have called it Pot Hole Jihad.

Indrali bridge in udupi still not done. When will people actually demand from the politicians after they vote. To erect such a small bridge they take so much time. It's such a shame. Honestly.. Everyday people pass by this bridge how many are protesting. Nobody.

Brainless Engineers are digging roads now to lay Concrete in September, any sense. Politicians are useless, they cannot think straight. Chikmagalur to Mangalore was 3.5 to 4 hours by car. Now it is 5-6 hours. There is no road.

With new automobiles registrations increasing at a rapid rate yoy, and the present traffic chaos, with absolutely no progress on infrastructure front, it's anybody's guess what the situation would be in 1-2 years from here; probably worse than Mumbai or Bangalore!!

In big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and many other cities, there are more than 300 signal lights,,here our city buses and service buses are not allowing itseems to install. No problem if they don't allow, atleast shieft the service bus stand, and there should be two bus stand, one for city, another to service buses, in different places. Shift the DC office and RTO immediately, all Chaos will end. But our DC, MCC, and Traffic department is not ready, and no coordination.

Jai ho .. we are going to become number one super power of the world and largest economy. Keep bhajaoing thaliyan aur ghantiyan...!!!!

They are milking money in all those freebies that is extended to only their workers . God know what is the extend of corruption that will come out once this govt goes.

NHAI is under the control of your favourite party who is in full control of the central government. State government is begging for its share of tax revenues for the development purpose. Road Toll is collected by the central government.
