Beltangady: Rising natural disasters amid incessant rains, schools closed

Beltangady, Jul 16: Incessant rains are lashing the taluk, leading to natural disasters such as hill collapses, uprooted trees, and damaged houses.

A bus stand collapsed near Perodithaya Katte in Tenkakarandoor village. Fortunately, no one was present, averting a major tragedy. Heavy rains are affecting coastal districts, including Dakshina Kannada.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared a red alert and hence a two-day holiday has been announced for schools.

The IMD has also forecasted heavy rains for the coastal districts over the next two days.
