Chirag should Grab No 1 Position in B'wood: Ram Vilas Paswan

New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS): Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan has no regrets that his son, Chirag, has chosen Bollywood over politics as his career. He says he is proud of his son's choice, and hopes he is able to reach the top in the film industry post his debut "Miley Na Miley Hum".

"Chirag has our support in whichever field he goes to. I only wish that he goes to the top wherever he goes. Now that he is going to the film industry, I feel he should try to grab the No.1 spot there," Paswan told reporters at a conference at his residence here Tuesday.

Though Paswan dodged questions about what he wanted Chirag to be, the politician admitted he didn't want to impose any career on his son.

"Every father wants his son to move ahead and do well in life. So do I. There was a time when parents used take decisions for their children's career. But today's generation is way ahead of us. They know things better than us. So it's not right to impose our choice on them. We should give our children the freedom to decide the career they want to pursue," he added.

Paswan admits he was always confused about what Chirag wanted to do in life.

"Chirag was a very bright and talented student. He was in the 9th standard when he stood 6th in an international talent award contest and received the award from the then prime minister. He has always been very confident about public speaking and in party meetings, people were more excited to hear him than me!

"So I never knew what he wanted to become -- whether he wanted to enter bureaucracy at all. One fine day, Mr. Anuj Saxena (the film's producer) came to see me and wants Chirag to feature in his film. He said, 'Chirag wishes to be a part of the film, and we want your blessings.' So we have given our blessings to him, and I am also very proud of my son," he said.

Chirag is making his debut opposite three heroines in the romantic drama. Releasing Friday, the film will see him romancing Kangana Ranaut, Sagarika Ghatge and Neeru Bajwa.

The young actor says even if he has chosen to entertain the Indian audience, he will continue to work for the citizens' welfare simultaneously.

"Politics is in my blood. Even if I want, I can't stay away from it. It was my dream to be an actor and I am happy I am fulfilling my dream. Professionally I have chosen Bollywood as my path, but working for the people of the country is something I like doing personally, and I will continue doing it side by side," said Chirag, adding that that's the reason why he pro-actively campaigns for his father.
