Kundapur, Jul 16: Incessant rains lashing the taluk for the past two days have created havoc. A connecting bridge at Chorady near Halady collapsed and was washed away by the river.

The bridge, built just two years ago, connected Madoor to the Halady TVS showroom and was a vital link for people living in this area.

The collapse was caused by the force of the water, breaking connections on both ends of the bridge.

Deputy commissioner Dr Vidyakumari and other officials visited the site.
