Bantwal, Jul 20: MLA Rajesh Naik visited the border area of Baltila-Shambhoor village, Kandayamajalu, where a rock blasting operation for a jackwell under the multi-village drinking water project for Puttur-Sullia constituencies caused damage to local homes.
After inspecting the site, MLA Naik held discussions with local representatives, villagers, and officials to assess the extent of the damage.
He instructed that a survey be conducted by the revenue department along with the Panchayat Raj engineering division and local leaders to prepare a detailed report on the affected homes. Based on this report, appropriate measures will be taken to repair the damaged houses. Responsibility for this task has been assigned to five local individuals.
Concerns were raised about the heavy vehicles used by the contracting company damaging the roads. In response, MLA Naik directed AEE G K Naik to take necessary steps to repair the roads.
He also emphasised that the project work should continue with the confidence and cooperation of the local community and instructed project manager Srinivas to ensure a person is stationed near the houses during future blasting oprerations. Additionally, he directed that the project's blueprint be shared with the local grama panchayats.
