Bantwal, Jul 20: A tragic incident occurred on Saturday, July 20, in Kadleshwalya village, Kadibettu, when a worker was electrocuted while setting up a tent at a private location.
The accident happened when an iron rod touched a high-tension power line, resulting in the death of a young worker from Bihar and injuries to four others.
The deceased has been identified as Kundan Kumar Mandal (19) from Bihar. The injured, Prasanna from Kadleshwalya village, Bablu and Pradeep from Jharkhand, and Rohit from West Bengal, are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Mangaluru.
The workers were setting up a tent for hi-tech poultry in Kadleshwalya village, Kadibettu, when the mishap occurred.
Five workers from Kalladka Shamiyana Services were involved in the set-up when a ladder came into contact with the high-tension power line, causing the accident. Kundan, who sustained severe injuries, was transported to Mangaluru via ambulance. The other three seriously injured workers were taken to the hospital in a pickup vehicle.
The deceased's body has been kept at Bantwal taluk hospital. Inspector Shivakumar, officer Harish, and village accountant Karibasappa from Bantwal rural police station visited the scene and conducted an investigation.
