FMCI celebrates feast of Sts Joachim & Anne: Honouring faith, family, dedication

Mangaluru, Jul 26: Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) commemorated the feast of Sts Joachim and Anne, the parents of Blessed Mary, grandparents of Jesus and patrons of the institution, with a festal Eucharistic celebration on July 26. The Mass, in the St Joseph Chapel, was led by Fr Roshan Crasta, parish priest of St Raphael Church Badyar and administrator of Fr L M Pinto Health Centre Badyar. The event, dedicated to honouring intergenerational faith and Grandparents Day, was a testament to the values of faith, hope, and love.

In his sermon, Fr Roshan Crasta emphasized the unwavering faith and dedication of Sts Joachim and Anne, who, despite initial childlessness, prayed fervently and were blessed with the Virgin Mary. He highlighted the significance of their faith and commitment, which led to Mary’s life of service to God. Fr Roshan drew parallels between the virtues of these saints and the foundational values of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, stressing the institution's reliance on divine providence and intercession.

The concelebrants included Rev. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director of FMCI, and Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, designate director FMCI & administrator of Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College Hospital, along with several guest priests namely Fr Praveen Lasrado, Fr Maxim Rosario, Fr Charles, Fr Vincent D’Souza, Fr J B Saldanha, Fr Peter Mascarenhas, Fr J B Crasta, Fr Prakash D’Souza, Fr Felix Monteiro and priests of the management.

The Mass underscored the importance of family values, care for the elderly, and the inspiration drawn from the lives of saints. The celebration concluded with a breakfast in the cafeteria, fostering a sense of community and togetherness among the attendees.
