Bantwal, Jul 26: The region continues to experience heavy rain and strong winds, resulting in extensive damage and losses amounting to lacs of rupees. The gusty winds and rain last night caused significant damage to several homes, prompting revenue department officials to take relief measures.
In Narikombu village, a tree fell on the house of Narayana Sapalya in Mittilakodi, causing partial damage. Local officials, including Narikombu gram panchayat president Santosh Kumar, members Ranjith Keddel, Ravi Anchan, Aberotu, and village assistant Lakshman, inspected the site.
In B Mooda village, a tree fell on the road in front of the Lions Hall early in the morning, obstructing vehicle traffic. The fire department cleared the debris.
Numerous homes suffered damage. In Dasakodi, the house of Damodar Pujari in Baltila village was partially damaged by a fallen tree. In Jumadigudde, Pudu village, a tree fell on Selim's house, causing damage. In Thumbe village, a sheet from a nearby house fell on Saramma's home, injuring Riyaz.
In Pudu village, the roof of Hasanabba's house was blown away by the wind. In Maripalla, Pudu village, the house and wall of Ibrahim were damaged. In the same area, the roofs of Chandrakala's and Moyuddin's houses were also blown away by the wind, and their walls were damaged. In Surikumaru, Mani village, a tree fell on Chennamma's house, causing partial damage, as reported by the revenue department.
The strong winds and rain have also damaged areca nut trees in the plantations of several farmers in the taluk.
