Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 28: Rain intensity decreased across the twin districts on Saturday. While moderate and intermittent showers were reported in some areas, high-velocity winds caused damage in various locations.

In Belthangady, more than 70 houses sustained damage from the rain over the past two days, with estimated losses around Rs 65 lakh. The Kumaradhara bathing ghat at Subramanya is nearing inundation.

High-velocity winds have been affecting coastal districts for the past two days, resulting in uprooted electricity poles and trees. This has led to disruptions in electricity supply in some areas.

On Friday night, rain accompanied by strong winds impacted Kundapur, Karkala, Brahmavara, Udupi, Kaup, Belman, Padubidri, Siddapura, Byndoor, Hebri, and Manipal.
