Udupi, July 29: Paryaya Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji has announced a month-long Krishna Janmashtami celebration at Krishna Math, running from August 1 to September 1.
Swamiji, addressing the media at Krishna Math on Monday, July 29, stated, “The festivities will include a series of cultural and devotional activities every day. A dedicated committee has been established to oversee the celebration, which will feature events such as bhajans, pravachans, and other cultural activities.”
He highlighted the celebration’s key events, including the 'Ladoo Utsava', where 108 varieties of ladoos will be prepared and offered. “The 'ladoo utsava' is organized to preserve our old culture. The preparation process of ladoos should be known to everyone. The festival also includes 'Dolotsava', where devotees can swing Lord Krishna in a cradle, 'Kreedotsava' with traditional games and folk music, and Geethotsav with continuous chanting of the Gita,” Swamiji explained.
Prasanna Acharya, Secretary International, detailed the event schedule: “The festivity will be inaugurated on August 1 at Car Street, with a formal stage event at 5 pm in the presence of G Parameshwara, home minister, Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji, Vidyesha Theertha Swamiji, and Sugunendra Swamiji. Various events will be held from August 2 to August 21, with special events led by Vidyesha Theertha Swamiji. From August 22 to August 25, there will be cultural programmes featuring dignitaries, including Tawarchand Gahlot, Governor. The 'Ladoo Utsava' will be inaugurated on August 22, followed by 'Leelotsava' on August 27, and 'Geethotsava' with continuous chanting of the Gita from sunrise to sunset.”
Ramesh Bhat mentioned that there will be 108 programmes, including 21 cultural activities and 18 sports events, making this celebration a comprehensive spiritual and cultural experience for all devotees.
Devotees are encouraged to participate in the celebration and engage in Krishna’s teachings. Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji noted, “The greatest gift for Krishna is the devotion of his followers,” he said.
