Mangaluru, Jul 29: B K Imthiyaz, president of the Street Vendors Association, has alleged that officials of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) have carried out dictatorial actions under the orders of mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur.

Imthiyaz claims that MCC officials conducted an operation against street vendors, destroying their property in an inhumane manner. He asserted that these actions were carried out based on orders from mayor Shetty Kannur, rather than following legal procedures or adhering to rules and regulations.

The Street Vendors Association strongly opposed what it describe as illegal evictions, which it believes constitute a clear violation of the 2014 Street Vendors Act.

Yesterday was "World Tiger Day" it is good that "Operatiion Tiger" was launched on this day. These vendors become a point where all illegal people meet. They are a nuisance and danger to safety of citizens. Operation Tiger should be extended to cars parked on footpaths and illegal, "used cars for sale "and stolen cars given out on rent which are parked on the roadside.

There is no poor or rich argument. If illegal must be vacated without any mercy. Corporation should not bow down for victim card play. this is a menace, they create many nuisance to the public. If corporation allow illegal ones every citizen to go and install some business on the footpath. Bcs if one allowed, others also should be allowed. No place for illegal ones. They even dig footpath install their shop. What a tragedy.

Why don't these people live like everyone else. They want to occupy public land and do business. Can it be believed that these people sell only chappals and clothes? Police should conduct raids and confiscate the illegal narcotics, many of them might be selling!!

Why MCC did no take action against one particular shop near the Canara Bank which is set up right at the entrance of the foot path leading to the Chilimbi 3rd Cross road. People are walking on the road as the foot path is blocked by this shop. Moreover the landmark stone is not visible as it is covered completely by this shop, hence causing difficulties to the new comers spending their valuable time searching for this road (Chilimbi 3rd Cross). The roof of this shop is extended right till the foot path hence pedestrians walking on this road are unable to walk on the foot path due to inadequate space and are forced to walk on the road. MCC officials please take necessary action.ptherwise it shows high partiality against the other street vendors.

The worst Corporation, I have seen in my life. Not now,but but also since when Congress, BJP ruling time till now..They don't have guts to vacate unauthorized and illegal shops were came up in parking places in commercial buildings and complexes. Foot path is for Pedestrian and those who walks , but in Mangalore, footpath is for those who have Restaurant and can have their street food in Festivals time. Who is having right to take action against MCC???? Millions Dollars question.?

The MCC should take actions when they put the shops without permission on the footpaths. Then only there is no issues will arise. Many places seen road sides shop and no place to walk. Everyone is poor in this country that means not to earn troubling others.

The residents of the entire area know the pain. From occupying the whole parking area , footpath, people parking on the road to have food, some even consuming alcohol in the night, urinating and litering! No one wants to destroy anyone's stomach yet it's tolerable only to an extent! Let them do their business in the area dedicated to them rather than occupying the parking area and the footpath.

"If MCC officials speak nicely, these street vendors don’t listen. Sometimes, it’s necessary to use force. Due to street vendors, many people are facing problems, but who should we complain to?”

Do these street vendors know that they are running a parallel business without a license and therefore not duty bound to pay tax on their income ? I agree that our PM promoted selling Pakoda but that is killing us the taxpayers. Why should we obey the rules and have proper documentation of a business we run or pay tax on our salary if a certain percentage of population makes hey by selling their products on the street without accountability ? The street belongs to the government whom a tax should be paid for using it. Obey the law of the land people, don't just sit there and cry why evicted from your black market.
