Mangaluru: Police launch speed detection radar gun experiment, several cases filed

Mangaluru, Jul 30: Dakshina Kannada district police began a speed detection operation on Monday, filing several cases against motorists for speeding.

Five mobile speed detection radar guns have been provided to the district police to detect speeding motorists. These guns can detect the speed of a vehicle at a distance of up to 100 meters.

More than 10 cases were registered on Monday within the city police commissionerate limits, with three guns allocated for these limits.

In Bantwal, police used speed detection radar guns to collect fines from motorists on Monday at Ramalkatte on NH 75. The operation was led by Bantwal traffic police SI Sutesh K P. Sixty-two cases were filed on the first day, and Rs 65,000 in fines was collected. According to police sources, this operation will continue on other roads as well.

However, the public is questioning the fines, as speed limit boards are not clearly displayed on the roads. Many speed limit signboards are covered with dirt, making the limit writing unreadable to motorists.

There are no signboards displaying the speed limit. Then on what basis the police fine for over speeding. May be a way to fleec the motorist. First instal speed limits boards then test your radars.

City buses are immune to these cameras 📸 as they regularly take prophylactic treatment from time to time; only a very virulent strain can detect them 😅🤣🤣

It is very clear that the signboards of speed limit is not properly displayed on the roads. Suppose speed limit is fixed, these speed limit signboards are covered with advertisements and placards of the public which hides these signboards. Here and there humps were made and no signboards are specified prior to the Humps on the roads. Many humps are not having white paints on the humps. Many City busses have not modified their steps which are having more height. Autos are moving helter-skelter and prevention of this is required from the traffic police.
